“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” - Winston Churchill
When it comes
down to it, no other quote really covers what our goal is at All Things
Cannabis better than the one above by Winston Churchill. We aim to stand up,
speak out, and educate the masses about cannabis – but the masses must be willing
to sit down to seriously listen and consider what we have to say.
We’re
currently almost a century into the prohibition of the plant here in the United
States – and in the Reefer Madness era it was not only the U.S. that banned
cannabis, but most developed nations around the globe as well.
During
that time a lot of misinformation got out. Marijuana became demonized as
something that made people aggressive and violent. Eventually, when it was
obvious that those claims were untrue, the tune changed – suddenly it was said
to make you lethargic, unmotivated and unintelligent to say the least. This
gave way to the lazy and stupid stoner stereotypes often depicted in television
and movies.
Now,
we have CEOs and entrepreneurs and many successful people – both in the
cannabis industry and outside it as well – who admit to smoking weed on a regular
basis.
The
knowledge that this plant had once been a part of many over-the-counter cough
syrups, skin creams and was found in hundreds of Americans medicine cabinets is
long gone. The plant was deemed dangerous and as having no medicinal value by
the United States government after the implementation of the Controlled
Substances Act (CSA).
In
the last two decades however, we have made major progress on the issue of
cannabis prohibition. Scientific studies and clinical trials have proven that cannabis
does have medicinal benefits – 30 states in the US and multiple countries have
moved to legalize cannabis for medicinal purposes.
In
the U.S. over 90 percent of voters are in favor of legalizing medical
marijuana, and over 50 percent of voters are prepared to legalize adult
consumption of the plant.
There
has been a lot of minds changed already – but there are still more folks out
there who are educated with outdated information of lazy stoners and the
gateway drug theory. My goal is to help educate the masses with the truth about
cannabis, it’s medicinal values, the safety of using it, and the advantages of legalization
and regulation over criminalization.
At
the same time, I want to spread the word when it comes to the growing
legalization movement, both here in the U.S. and around the world. I follow campaigns
and legislation in the states that have yet to end prohibition, as well as developments
in the ones where the plant is already legal.
There
are also efforts at a federal level that would remove cannabis from the CSA, protect
states rights to legalize, allow veterans access to medical marijuana and here
we will be keeping track of it all! This is my way to contribute to the
legalization movement.
From
time to time we will also provide you with nifty information for everyone from
the newest of weed noobs to the most experienced cannabis connoisseur,
including recipes, the latest in pipes, vapes, cannabis themed entertainment,
events and more.
What
it comes down to, is we plan to be your one-stop for All Things Cannabis!
